We are accepting on going submissions!
The Village Community Gallery at Uncommon Grounds in Old Hickory Village is seeking local artists to exhibit their works in future shows. We are especially interested in art that has strong ties to our community. All forms of media will be considered. However, work should be appropriate for all ages within our community and should be primarily able to hang on the wall on a chain and "S" hook. No work will be hung on a nail on the wall. The maximum size of the work to be displayed is 32in X 40in and 30 pounds each. Installation work will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Applications are now being accepted for consideration of exhibits during 2014. Eight to ten exhibitors/ groups will be selected through a juried process for a one month exhibition each.
Individuals, organizations, or groups interested in exhibiting are asked to complete an application and submit five to ten digital images to: [email protected] Artists submitting must be able to tie their work to our community to benefit it in some way. This may include, but not limited to, workshops, community involved art, collaborations within the community, etc.
Submissions without a completed application will not be accepted. Late submission will not be accepted. If selected, artists will receive an acceptance letter explaining policies and procedures.
Accepted applicants will be responsible for:
1. Signed Contract
2. Delivery of Work: All materials regarding the exhibition, including artwork must be delivered to Village Community Gallery by hand-delivery, FedEx or UPS at the artist’s expense on the date specified in the contract.
3. Pick Up of Work: Artwork must be picked up by the artist and/or shipping arrangements prepaid and pre-arranged by the artist at the end date of show. VCG is not responsible for the return of artwork if unclaimed, or when no arrangements have been made. Work will be disposed of after 30 days from show date.
4. Artwork that’s Available: Work must be up for the entire time of the exhibition; it may not be substituted, arrive later, or leave earlier than the contracted exhibition dates without exception.
VCG reserves the right to reject any and all artwork that is deemed by its directors to be unsuitable, due to unprofessional presentation, which may include, but not be limited to, wet or unfinished work, pieces which are not ready to install (lack appropriate hanging hardware or method), as well as those that are toxic or present a potential danger to itself and/or its surroundings. VCG is not responsible for any loss or damage, even though we make every effort to handle all work with extreme care.
